Therapy in Chapel Hill and Online Across NC and SC

Trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming therapy for real life.

When Life Feels Overwhelming, There Is a Way Forward

Sometimes life slowly becomes heavier than it should. Anxiety lingers. Thoughts race. Emotions feel close to the surface.

Or you find yourself worrying about your child and wondering how to help.

At Root Wellness, we believe care should feel steady, thoughtful, and deeply human.

You do not need to navigate this alone.

Who We Support

We work with people who are ready for care that goes deeper.

  • Adults feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally worn down

  • Children and teens with big feelings, intense reactions, or challenging behaviors

  • Parents who love their children deeply and still feel unsure what to do next

  • Families looking for meaningful, lasting change

You do not need to be in crisis to reach out.

You just need to feel that something could be different.

What It Feels Like to Work With Us

Therapy should feel safe before it feels productive.

You can expect:

  • A space where you are met with warmth and respect

  • Therapists who are present, genuine, and engaged

  • Care that moves at a pace that honors your nervous system

  • Collaboration, not judgment or pressure

You are not expected to have the answers.
We will find them together.

How We Approach Therapy

Many people come to therapy after trying everything they can think of.

You may have:

  • Pushed through on your own for a long time

  • Read the books or listened to the podcasts

  • Tried therapy that stayed on the surface

  • Felt overwhelmed trying to support your child

Feeling stuck does not mean you are failing. It means something needs care and attention.

Our work together often includes:

  • Gently exploring both present challenges and past experiences

  • Moving at a pace that feels manageable and supportive

  • Creating an individualized plan for you or your child

  • Integrating EMDR, talk therapy, and trauma informed approaches when appropriate

Support That Helps Things Shift

Lasting change is not about forcing yourself to cope harder.

We are trained in EMDR and trauma informed care and focus on:

  • Helping you understand emotional patterns

  • Processing experiences that still feel heavy

  • Building skills that support daily life

  • Strengthening resilience and self trust over time

This work is steady.
It is compassionate.
And it is deeply intentional.

Moving Forward Together

Whether you are navigating anxiety yourself or supporting a child with big emotions, you deserve care that feels affirming and supportive.

Clients often describe Root Wellness as:

  • Compassionate

  • Grounded

  • Authentic

  • Thoughtfully invested in their care

Our role is to walk alongside you as you find clarity, confidence, and connection and begin to feel more at ease in your life again.

Our Space

We offer a calm, welcoming space designed to help you feel at ease the moment you arrive. Our in person office is intentionally warm and grounding, with comfort and privacy in mind, so you can settle in and focus on yourself or your child.

We also offer virtual sessions for those who prefer to meet from the comfort of home or need greater flexibility.

Whether we connect in person or online, our priority remains the same: creating a supportive, secure environment where you feel seen, heard, and cared for. We believe therapeutic spaces should be accessible and comfortable for all bodies. Our office includes seating that supports a range of bodies, wheelchair-accessible entryways and sidewalks, and thoughtful accommodations so you can feel physically at ease when you arrive. We offer a calm, low-stimulus environment and welcome movement, fidgets, snacks, or anything that helps you feel regulated. If you have specific accessibility or sensory needs, we are happy to discuss accommodations.

Healing happens where you feel safest.

A Gentle Invitation

Reaching out can feel scary. It often comes with uncertainty and courage.

At our space, you do not need to have the right words or a clear plan. You only need a sense that something could feel better.

If you are curious about whether we might be the right fit for you, your family, or your child, we invite you to reach out. A brief consultation offers a quiet, supportive space to ask questions, share a little about what is going on, and see if working together feels right.

There is no pressure. No expectations. Just a place to begin when you are ready.

Why the name Root Wellness?

Roots are hidden beneath the surface, requiring a deliberate effort to uncover. They play a crucial role in anchoring trees, ensuring their stability during storms, and demanding strength, resilience, and security. At Root Wellness, we love working with individuals that are seeking more than just a casual therapy session revolving around weekly updates. Here, therapy is for people who want to dig deeper and grow stronger, sturdier roots. We’ll work together to find the root of the problem so you can finally start to see a deeper level of change.
